A Faith Injection: Bible Verses That Help With Depression

Updated on April 30, 2014

Occasionally, I find that a strong dose of faith is needed to keep a smile on my face. The accuser has been especially busy. In light of the things going on in the world, globally, in my personal life, and in the lives of those around me. The cares of this life seem especially heavy today. In times like these 2 or 3 scriptures don't seem to do the job. Once again, I need a faith injection. I took some time to look up some of my favorite scripture. I do this because it brings me hope and reminds me that my God is on the job! Reading them all consecutively is, for me, very powerful. I hope you enjoy.

Psalm 3 A psalm of David. When he fled from his son Absalom. O LORD, how many are my foes! How many rise up against me!Many are saying of me, "God will not deliver him." Selah

But you are a shield around me, O LORD; you bestow glory on me and lift up my head.To the LORD I cry aloud, and he answers me from his holy hill. Selah

I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the LORD sustains me.I will not fear the tens of thousands drawn up against me on every side.

Arise, O LORD! Deliver me, O my God! Strike all my enemies on the jaw;break the teeth of the wicked. From the LORD comes deliverance.May your blessing be on your people. Selah

Psalm 18:2 The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.

Psalm 27:1 The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

I'm beginning to feel better.

Psalm 91- (I recommend this whole chapter but here are my favorite parts Safety of Abiding in the Presence of God)

1. He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. 2. I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.” 14.“Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him;I will set him on high, because he has known My name.15. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him;I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him.16. With long life I will satisfy him,And show him My salvation.”

Psalm 121 I will lift up my eyes to the hills—From whence comes my help?My help comes from the LORD,Who made heaven and earth. He will not allow your foot to be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, He who keeps IsraelShall neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD is your keeper; The LORD is your shade at your right hand. The sun shall not strike you by day, Nor the moon by night. The LORD shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul. The LORD shall preserve your going out and your coming in From this time forth, and even forever more

OK. A smile is appearing on my face. Maybe things are not so bad. :)

Philippians 4: 1. Therefore, my beloved and longed-for brethren, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, beloved. 4. Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! 5. Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. 6. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.8. Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. 9. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you. 11. Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: 12. I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. 13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

1 Samuel 17:45-(The last words Goliath heard). Then said David to the Philistine, "you come to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to you in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.

Hot Dog! Give me a sinner! I need to tell someone about Jesus! \o/ Praise God!

I thought I would pass these on. Please add to them. If you have a scripture that really builds your faith, I would love to read it.

I hope you all have a great day.

In Christ
