Ground Zero Mosque- I Smell A Rat
69
Bite from Obama's Iftar speech.
Oppinions are like noses.. Every one has one!
Recently a great deal of discussion has been taking place about a 100 Million Dollar, 13 storey, Cordoba Masque/community center that is to be built approximately two block from ground zero. The location of the befallen Twin Towers where over 3000 Americans where suffocated, crushed or burned to death at the hands of a few militant Muslim men who clearly took their faith seriously.
The debate stems around the wisdom and legality of building an Islamic house of worship so close to the site that represents, more then any other place, " Jihad in America". It's makes some feel that Islam is raising a 100 million Dollar flag of victory. That sends a clear message of vulgar disrespect. Showing a lack of sympathy and regret. Affirming the actions of the Muslim terrorist.
I like how Patrick J Buchanan Put in his article "Our Clueless Professor"*a
"A decent respect for the opinions of one's fellow Americans would seem to shout out: Put the mosque somewhere else. This is hallowed ground. This is a burial site sacred to the families of those who died, to New Yorkers, to all Americans. A Muslim mosque is out of place there."
Others say it represents religious tolerance, the freedom of religion and national forgiveness. They believe it communicates healing, reconciliation and harmony. Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, the head of the Cordoba Institute, which is in charge of the project, insisted that the site would help "bridge the great divide" between Muslims and the rest of America *b "
"We are Americans, we are Muslim Americans," Rauf said. "Many of us were born in the United States. We have no higher aspirations than to bring up our children in peace and harmony in this country."
Hmmm?
Personally, I agree with the former. I believe it is a rude and disgraceful act. It smacks of arrogance and contempt for America's hallowed ground. Make no mistake, at some time in the future, it will be used as a memorial to the terrorists who gave their lives to bring down the Twin Towers. It is insulting and demands attention. For it reveals the true character of Islam.
That being said, I am not writing simply to weigh in on this debate. I am writing to say-
I smell a Rat!
I agree with President Obama's remarks that he made at the Iftar - the meal that breaks the day of fasting. He and several wealthy Muslim supporters were celebrating Ramadan in the State Dining Room. During his remarks at the Iftar dinner, President Obama felt a need to remind us of the importance of religious freedom as one of the founding principles of our Nation:
"Let me be clear, as a citizen, and as President, I believe that Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as anyone else in this country That includes the right to build a place of worship and a community center on private property in lower Manhattan, in accordance with local laws and ordinances," and "This is America, and our commitment to religious freedom must be unshakable"
Ok I agree with that, but here's the thing. According to Representative Jerrold Nadler, a Democrat whose district includes the Ground Zero site, stated
"Government has no business deciding whether there should or should not be a Muslim house of worship near Ground Zero," *c
Since this issue has nothing to do with national government. It begs the question- Why did our "Christian" President feel he needed to comment on such a religiously inflaming issue. As a Christian and as an American, he should have strong feelings of concern that would have kept him from commenting on the subject at all. "Avoidance" would have been the rule of the day. All he needed to say is "Its not my call" .
Instead he weighed in at the one place his words would have been heard the loudest. When he spoke He did not choose to take that moment to appeal to the American Muslim to consider the wisdom of building the mosque near Ground Zero. Instead he insulted me and all those who share my concerns. Feeling the need to remind me of our countries freedom of religion and civil liberties.
I am sorry, I have no intentions of urging our government to cross constitutional boundaries that have safe guarded our civil liberties for the last two hundred years. But I did expect, and would erg, my American Christian President to caution a minority group whose faith is responsible for the destruction of thousands of Americans that their actions are hurting the rest of the country. Christians and non Christians alike.
In the aftermath of his comments he drew criticism from conservatives, as well as, members of his own party. The president sought to clarify his statement during a trip to Florida on Saturday.
"I was not commenting and I will not comment on the wisdom of making a decision to put a mosque there,"
It would appear that Obama does have some strong feelings of concern that are keeping him from commenting on the "wisdom" of their decisions. In his silence he is revealing something about himself. I am concerned that Mr. Obama is partial to the Muslim faith and that possibly, he has lied to the American people about his beliefs. The Muslim faith is aggressive, intolerant, and oppressive. If our president is parcial or sympathetic to Islam, he is a greater insult to the American people then the Ground Zero Mosque ever could be. For he is hiding behind an American Christian flag pretending to be one of us. All the while he betrays our trust by winking at our enemy
Something to think about
If those Muslims who are backing this project wish to impress this nation. To communicate healing, reconciliation and harmony. They have an opportunity staring them in the face. Publicly own up to the reality that their brethren wrongly and maliciously attacked this country, acknowledge the "wisdom" of placing their mosque else where, and apologize for being so insensitive to the American conscience. But then agian, I have to remember,
that would be the Christian thing to do.

Abrushing I am going to give Obama the benefit of the doubt about him being Muslim. However I find it interesting that he could find time to have muslim guest for dinner at the White House during Ramadan , but he could not find the time to give a speech to the Boy Scouts on their 100th anniversary and instead went on TV with a bunch of cackling hens instead. Or how he weighed in on the Professor in Massachusetts before he had the facts and criticized the cop. No one is disputing that the mosque has the right to be built , but as I have said on many other hubs ,just because they can does not mean they should ! It is an insult to the American public. And I am appalled by the short memory of so many here at HP who support this mosque. I think Obamas statement has just buried the Democrats now for sure. As much as I could not stand Dubya I feel that he would do everything he could to put a stop to this insult !
There is no Ground Zero Mosque. What the Islamic community wants to do is build a 13 story cultural center with a culinary school and basket ball court where the Burlington Coat Factory originally stood.
Whether you agree with it or not, the fact remains that every citizen in this country has the constitutional right to practice their religion and build a place of worship on private property.
I personally do not like our president, but Obama didn't say anything wrong this time. He was simply saying that the people have the right to build and we should defend that right. He was not commenting on whether they should or shouldn't.
The Mosque is no where near ground zero. I have a poll on my hub "Allowing The Mosque At Ground Zero" so far most agree we should build it. Obama has nothing to do with this. If Obama was a Muslim it would not be a bad thing either. I am a Muslim and Christian. This whole debate is making America look really bad right now. America has not allowed an attack since 911. It is as if the right is begging for one as of late. Poking that sleeping bear over and over again. I heard they were planning on burning the Qua'ran on the site. Wow people are getting radical right now. I have heard of 8 Muslims that died during the attacks on 911. I mean what, anyone care about them. I know people who have lost loved ones on that fateful day, and they think it should be built. That is all that matters to me. Freedom of religion. I mean it is a community center, I would rather these children be in this center, than on the streets with the terrorist. I mean come on already!
P.S if this is a recruitment center or a rallying point for Islamic terrorist, it is only because some crazy guy made this a debate in the first place. Some right wing nut I suppose create a debate before the upcoming elections. I know "Good call captain obvious!"
While my and I sometimes pray for Obama, the question that keeps coming up in my mind is this, 'Is Obama a christian? I pray that America will not fall again to the subtle sword of the twelve princes.
It would just be better all around to build the mosque somewhere else than a spot where Muslims bombed 2 towers.
We could decide by asking any relatives or loved ones of the victims of the attacks how they feel about it as they have been more deeply touched by it than others and abide by their decision.
Or ask the muslims if the situation were reversed how would they feel about their worst enemy building a shrine over the carnage of the past after a short few years to forget about it all?
Islam is -historically speaking- in the habit of planting great ruddy shrines to its military victories in the form of great ruddy Mosques as close as they can get them to the battle. There was no closer real estate available for the Cordoba House. And don't believe for a second they wouldn't have purchased closer had it been for sale.
We also must ask where the money is coming from. All indications point to organizations and tin-hat nations which seem to feel Americans are best, once dead.
I've found that in war, as in business, it best not to take the advice (or the money) of people who mean you harm or want you dead.
A telling question for all the people who seem to feel the 100 mosques ALREADY IN NY aren't enough: Why There?
Thank you for this Hub, A-brush. Keep writing.
Abrushing I have a reason I tell you I am both Christian and Muslim. If you read my hub entitled new world religion you would get an insight. I have done extensive research on every major religion from Native American Religions to Egyptian religion. The bible states when building the Tower of Babylon mankind was divided and given many different tongues. I interpret that as many different faiths as well. I look at it as mankind was divided. Each faith is an obstacle for mankind, given to us by GOD. I see it as each religion holds a piece of the human puzzle. A key to the ultimate knowledge of GOD and mankind's purpose. One religion simply holds one piece to this complex puzzle. So people with one piece hinder themselves from the ultimate truth.
Like the bible states. "Few will make it into the kingdom of heaven." I am a Gnostic, which I usually just keep to myself. However I see that you are a wise man, perhaps I can help you. I could give you many reasons why not allowing this Mosque will lead us into a very dark age. But that is irrelevant. In the end my faith does not lay in belief. My faith lives in knowledge.
I could tell you things like Jesus resides in spirit, and can lead many faiths. However in the end any faith that keeps GOD at the heart will have no problems. Good luck and GOD bless my friend.
Amen. From what I have read you are a good Christian. Not a hypocritical Christian. So keep the faith, and keep doing what you are doing and salvation will be at hand. Good luck and GOD bless.
