How Does A Ceiling Fan Collect Dust If It Is Constantly Spinning?
Little known fact about dust, it is collected by little invisible rodents. Turns out, dust sticks to the fur of these dime size creatures and becomes a real problem over time. Like sheep that desperately need to be shaved, eventually the dust builds up so bad that it impedes their mobility and allows them to be seen.
As it happens, the spinning force of the ceiling fan is the perfect solution. The problem, as you may have already guessed, is how to get on the fans while they are spinning. The answer is actually pretty simple. These bad boys have the ability to climb straight up a wall or upside down on the ceiling.
What they do is, wait till the house is empty or when everyone's asleep. Making certain no one can see their dusty selves’ climbing the walls. The cleanest of the lot will climb up the wall and turn off the fan switch. He has to be clean because he must remain at the switch, controlling the speed of the fan and the duration in which it spins. He will not be able to go for a spin this go around. Once the fan stops spinning, those who are heavy laden with dust will climb on board.
They have growing out of their heads 2 long appendages that allow them to climb and cling to any surface. Those who have been lucky enough to catch these little guys in the act say their appendages look like rabbit ears, earning them the name Dust Bunnies.
Once in place on the fan, they grab on for dear life. The fan is turned on to its highest setting. Once the fan reaches top speed, they begin to shake their bodies like a wet dog, causing the dust to simply blow away. The body oil in the dust causes it to stick to the fan blades.
If you listen closely you will hear their tiny voices shouting “Wee!” “Yahoo!” or “Faster Faster!” I’m afraid Dust Bunnies are avid adrenalin junkies.
Any way, once the bunnies are free from their dust and safely off the fan, the one manning the switch, returns it to it’s previous setting leaving you none the wiser. He then dashes off with the others collecting more dust and living to spin another day.
The things you didn't know you didn't know.
