The Spells of Rebellion
1 Samuel 15:23a
For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, And stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry.
I have found that rebellious and judgmental people only look to their own understanding, their own perspective. They refuse to listen to reason and are blinded to the truth. No wonder God’s Word compares rebellion to witchcraft. In their insistence that their actions are justified, the rebellious cast spells on those around them who are weaker, adding them to their sinful campaign. When Godly men rebuke them, they leave in anger, arrogantly pointing their fingers, taking all those who are under their spell with them.
The next time you find yourself looking at your authorities in a critical and judgmental way, ask yourself have you been bewitched or are you the one casting spells? Are you allowing rebellion to dictate your actions and make you blind to your sin? Never fling grace and mercy away from you and embrace humility, make sure he is always in your company. In this way you will guard against the spells of rebellion Submitting yourselves one to another in love and holiness just as Christ did for us.
